Heavy snow causes treacherous driving conditions

Heavy snow has resulted in treacherous driving conditions in many parts of the country this afternoon.

Motorists are being advised to drive with care, reduce their speed and use dipped headlights.

In Wicklow, the Sally Gap is completely blocked to traffic as a bus is currently stuck along the route.

Conditions on the M7 in Co Laois and Co Kildare and on the M4 between Kilcock and Enfield are also said to be extremely dangerous.

Conditions in Monaghan and Meath are also dangerous, while motorists in Cavan are being advised to avoid roads in the Bailieborough area.
