Man held in connection with murder in North

A man was arrested today for questioning about the murder of a DJ viciously beaten outside a Co Antrim hotel four years ago.

The 42-year-old was being quizzed about the murder of Stephen Nelson who was attacked by a gang outside the Chimney Corner Hotel in Newtownabbey in September 2004.

Mr Nelson lay in a coma in hospital for six months before dying.

Police believe up to 10 people were involved in the attack, repeatedly kicking and punching their victim outside the hotel disco in the early hours of the morning.

A number of people have been arrested and questioned in recent years – the last in September – but no charges have been made.

The man arrested today was taken to the PSNI Serious Crime Suite at Antrim for questioning, said a spokeswoman.
