Cowen to announce changes to medical-card decision

The Taoiseach and the Minister for Health have called a hasty press conference for this morning to outline changes to the controversial budget decision on over-70s medical cards.

Brian Cowen and Mary Harney are expected to unveil new income thresholds that will significantly reduce the number of older people who will lose their cards as a result of the decision.
