Tributes are being paid to the founder of the Community Games in Ireland, Joseph Connolly, who has passed away aged 86.

Tributes are being paid to the founder of the Community Games in Ireland, Joseph Connolly, who has passed away aged 86.

He died in hospital in Dublin yesterday.

The Community Games are still an annual event.

The President of Athlone Institute of Technology, which will host the national finals of the games next year, has paid tribute saying Mr Connolly dedicated his life to promoting community engagement.
