Man arrested after house fire

A man was arrested today after another man was pulled from an overnight house fire.

Firefighters were called to the scene at Donegall Road, south Belfast, at around 1.45am.

A man trapped inside the property had to be rescued as a small fire on the first floor of the mid-terrace house was put out.

He was taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Police investigating the incident arrested a 48-year-old man.

A Police Service spokeswoman said: “Inquiries are continuing.”

The Fire and Rescue Service said 16 firefighters and three appliances were called to the scene.
