Monageer report to be published in coming weeks

A report into the deaths of the Dunne family in Monageer, Co Wexford, last year is expected to be published in the coming weeks.

The bodies of Adrian and Ciara Dunne were found along with those of their two daughters at the couple's home in April 2007.

It later emerged that the couple had visited an undertaker three days previously to arrange their funerals and that the authorities had been made aware of a possible risk to the safety of the children.

An inquiry chaired by barrister Kate Brosnan was set up to examine how the State services dealt with the family and she presented her report to the Government yesterday.

The report is expected to recommend the introduction of an out-of-hours emergency social work service to help deal with crisis situations.
