Report highlights health inequalities among Irish children

Widespread health inequalities exist among children in Ireland, according to a study published today by the Health Promotion Research Centre at NUI Galway.

Widespread health inequalities exist among children in Ireland, according to a study published today by the Health Promotion Research Centre at NUI Galway.

The research investigated issues facing children in the Travelling community, immigrant families, those with disabilities and pupils in disadvantaged schools.

It concludes that many disadvantaged children have poorer diets and suffer higher levels of victimisation.

It also says alcohol use is more common among girls and boys from the Travelling community.
