Gardaí seize guns and drugs in raid

Guns, ammunition and more than €1m worth of drugs were seized when gardaí searched a house earlier today.

The consignment was recovered from the property in Newcastle, Co Dublin.

A Garda spokesman said: “In the course of the search, one kilo of cocaine and a quantity of cannabis resin were seized.

“It is estimated, subject to forensic tests, that the drugs may have a street value in excess of €1m.

“Two firearms and a quantity of ammunition were also seized.”

No arrests have been made and the operation is ongoing, gardaí said.

The search was carried out by detectives from Rathcoole and Clondalkin supported by the Clondalkin Drugs Unit.
