A Congolese man has been before a special sitting of Dublin District Court this morning, charged in connection the seizure of €350,000 worth of cocaine in the city.

Deo Gracsias was charged under Section two of the Drug Trafficking Act.

The 20-year-old was arrested around 9.30 last night and detained at Pearse Street garda station for questioning in connection with a drug seizure of between five and six kilograms of cocaine.

Unemployed, Mr Gracsias has been living in Ireland for six years and is currently staying in hostel accommodation in St Peter’s Row in Dublin.

He was arrested as part of a joint operation between the National Drugs Unit and customs officials.

He was remanded in custody with consent to bail and is due before Cloverhill District Court next Thursday.
