French egg thrower escapes conviction
A relieved French waiter, who was arrested for trying to pelt France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy with eggs on his arrival at Government Buildings in July, today gave the thumbs up to Irish justice.
Michael Audran (aged 35), with an address at Drumderg, Drumshambo, Co Leitrim, had pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court to engaging in threatening, insulting and abusive behaviour contrary to the Public Order Act, at Merrion Street, in Dublin, during Sarkozy’s one-day visit, on July 21 last.
