Thousands without water in Kerry

Tens of thousands of homes in north Kerry have been cut off from their water supply.

Kerry County Council made the decision to cut off the supply after the river Feale became polluted.

A bog slide in the Kielduff area is being blamed.

It is thought the clean up operation could take up to five days - two bridges were engulfed, roads were blocked and access to a number of homes has been cut off.

However, Senior Engineer Brian Sweeney has said they are not out of the woods just yet.

"If heavy rain came there is a danger the whole problem will reoccur," he said.
