Hiker airlifted off mountain

A man had to be airlifted to hospital today after suffering chest pains during a hike in the Mourne Mountains.

A man had to be airlifted to hospital today after suffering chest pains during a hike in the Mourne Mountains.

He was taken by helicopter to Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry, Co Down, after falling ill at Hare’s Gap.

Another man was also helped down the mountain by the Mourne Mountain Rescue team after suffering a broken ankle in the difficult conditions.
