Probe into saw mill death in Clare

A 49-year-old man was killed in a work place accident in a saw mill yard today.

The Health and Safety Authority confirmed it was probing the death of the employee at the plant in Feakle, east Clare.

It is understood a piece of machinery fell on top of the man as he was working shortly after 10am.

His body was removed from the scene at 1.20pm and taken to Limerick Regional Hospital where a post mortem will be held.

Gardaí are also investigating the death.
