Hit and run kills Galway pedestrian
A man in his late sixties has been killed in a hit and run in Co Galway.
The man’s body was found just before 9am this morning on a road in Cregg, 11 miles north of Galway city.
His name has not yet been released, but he is believed to be from the Corrandulla area of the county.
Garda Superintendent Tom Curley is appealing for the driver of the car, who fled the scene of the crash, to contact them.
“It has to be playing on their conscience at this stage, after being involved in a hit and run, which has resulted in the death of an elderly man,” said Superintendent Curley.
“I would appeal to that person, he or she, to come forward.”
The man's death brings to three the number of pedestrians killed on the roads today.
A man in his forties was killed in Carraroe in Galway after being hit by a car in the early hours of this morning, while another man died in Tyrone after being hit by a van.
