Irish politicians criticise Chinese authorities over censorship
Irish politicians are criticising Chinese authorities for the suspension of a Chinese television channel to broadcast into Asia.
It follows French satellite operator, Eutelsat's, suspension of the independent Chinese-language broadcaster's use of its satellite which enables it to air in China.
Earlier this week, foreign media outlets in Beijing complained their reporters were unable to access certain websites.
The International Olympic Committee said all Internet restrictions for media covering the Beijing Games have now been lifted.
However, Sinn Féin MEP Mary-Lou McDonald has said authorities can still block sites it deems against the national interest.
