Fatal accident on Galway farm

A 66-year-old man has died in a farming accident in Galway.

The accident happened on a farm near Ballinasloe yesterday evening, when the man became entangled in machinery used for spreading lime.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but efforts to revive the man failed.

His body was removed to Portiuncula hospital for a post mortem examination today.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating the incident.
