Householders braced for more energy price hikes

Householders are today being warned of further rises in the cost of energy.

Yesterday, Bord Gáis was given permission for a 20% gas price rise from the beginning of September.

This follows recent sanction for an electricity price hike.

There are now growing expectations of more rises in the New Year.

The Commission for Energy Regulation says the hikes are attributed to the rise in world market prices.
