Irish Catholics head for Pope's visit in Sydney
More than 800 young Irish Catholics are heading to Sydney for World Youth Day.
Nine bishops, including Cardinal Sean Brady and Archbishop Martin, have travelled with them to Australia for the week-long celebrations, which get underway tomorrow.
Over 220,000 pilgrims have registered to take part in this year’s event.
World Youth Day was initiated by the late Pope John Paul the second in 1985 and has been held in cities all over the world since then.
Pope Benedict will celebrate the final Mass next Sunday.
