Eighty-seven submissions support Ballsbridge high-rise plan

An Bord Pleanala has reportedly received 87 submissions supporting plans by Sean Dunne to build a high-rise development in the Ballsbridge area of south Dublin.

Reports this morning say the planning appeals body will be holding a preliminary meeting next week to discuss submissions relating to the plan for the site of the Jury's and Berkeley Court hotels.

An unprecedented 127 submissions have been made in relation to the plan, including several calling for the reinstatement of a proposed 37-storey tower that was omitted by Dublin City Council planners.

This morning's reports say several identical letters have been received from different appellants expressing dismay at the council's decision to reject the tower.

Local Labour Councillor Dermot Lacey believes the project is wrong for the area and needs to be revised in its entirety.
