EC announces €600m aid package for fishermen

The European Commission has announced plans to give €600m worth of aid to fishermen to help them deal with rising fuel costs.

The commission says the funds are part of a package of emergency measures to encourage restructuring of fishing fleets hit hardest by the fuel crisis.
