Shot fired during Dublin ATM robbery

A shot was fired when armed raiders held up security workers servicing cash machines in north Dublin today.

Detectives said no-one was injured during the robbery at an ATM close to Wong’s Chinese restaurant on the Howth Road, Clontarf.

The security company staff were working at the cash machine at around 1.15pm when they were approached by two armed men.

One of the raiders fired a single shot from what is believed to have been a sawn-off shotgun.

The robbers took an undisclosed sum of cash before making off in at a four-wheel drive vehicle, according to investigating officers.

Gardai have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
