No need for unanimity in 'grandfather figure' rape trial, jury told
The jury in the trial at the Central Criminal Court of a Limerick "grandfather figure" man charged with sexually molesting and raping a young girl has been told it can return majority verdicts.
Mr Justice John Edwards told the jury the court can accept verdicts of 11-1 or 10-2 on the counts after the foreman said it could not agree unanimously on any of the 42 counts being considered.
