Labour concerned over rising personal debt levels

Concern is being raised at the amount of debt people are facing in to as the economy weakens.

Concern is being raised at the amount of debt people are facing in to as the economy weakens.

Figures obtained by Labour Party TD Roisin Shortall show the money owed by people contacting the Money Advice and Budgeting Service has risen by 50% since 2006.

Two years ago the average amount owed was €6,500 but this has now risen to €9,600.
