PIAB chief surprised by higher insurance premiums
The chief executive of the Personal Injuries Assessment Board says she is surprised by suggestions of a rise in insurance premiums.
The board was set up four years ago in an effort to cut premiums by giving insurance firms and claimants the option to deal with compensation claims outside the courts.
Its CEO, Patricia Byron, says claims are now being processed more quickly and for less cost, saving the insurance industry more than €100m a year.
The board is launching a range of new services today, including online applications from claimants.
