The Yes side secured a rare constituency win today, though it will make little difference to the national trend of No votes.

The treaty was approved in Carlow-Kilkenny by a mere four votes, as the Yes side held out by 26,210 to 26,206.

Dun Laoighre enjoyed the largest majority for the Yes side, with 63.5% approval.

Dublin North endorsed the treaty by a slender 50.6% majority, with Dublin South-East returned a robust 61.7% approval for the treaty.

Dublin South said Yes, with a majority of 62.9%, with 50.9% of Meath East also voting in the affirmative.

The national picture remains in favour of a No outcome by a 53.4% margin however.

Elsewhere, in Galway West, the treaty was rejected by 23,011 voters, with 19,643 voting Yes, a 53.9% to 46.1% majority.

In former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern's constituency of Dublin Central, 56.2% of voters rejected the treaty.
