Truckers to strike over fuel prices at end of month

Truck drivers around the country have announced plans to mount a nationwide strike at the end of the month in protest at spiralling fuel prices.

The move was agreed during a meeting of the Irish Road Haulage Association last night.

Truckers have been warning that their livelihoods are under threat due to the rising cost of diesel and have been demanding that the Government reduce fuel duties

Spanish drivers have already caused major disruption during fuel protests in their country, but the IRHA says Irish people will not be prevented from going about their business when the strike gets underway on June 27.
