Ireland's top criminal trial judge has reportedly warned that knife crime is "out of control" and may have to be tackled through tougher prison sentences.

Reports this morning say Mr Justice Paul Carney has suggested that it may be time for the Supreme Court and the Court of Criminal Appeal to review the sentencing principles used in manslaughter cases.
