Bomb squad gives all-clear after second Dublin hoax

The army bomb disposal team has given the all-clear following the discovery of a suspect package in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

Gardaí alerted the bomb disposal experts to the package which was found under a parked car outside the Tom Kelly flats in Charlemont Street at about 2.30pm.

Following an examination, the team found that the package contained no explosive material and declared it a hoax.

The remains of the box were handed over to gardaí for their investigation.

It is the second such incident in Dublin today.

The army bomb disposal team also responded to an incident at the American Embassy in Ballsbridge after a suspect package was handed into the front desk this morning.

That too was declared a hoax and the all-clear was given.

Gardaí are also investigating that incident.
