Elderly woman dies in car crash

An elderly woman was killed tonight in a car crash.

It happened at Dun Luiche, Falcarragh in Co Donegal, shortly before 5pm.

The woman passenger, who was in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene after the car she was travelling in and another car were in collision.

A garda spokesman said: “The driver of this car, a male in his 70s, was removed by ambulance to Letterkenny General Hospital.

“The extent of his injuries is not known.

“The female driver of the second car and two passengers, who were children, were also removed to hospital in Letterkenny.

“They are not thought to be seriously injured.”
