Opponents of the Lisbon Treaty say the EU will move closer to a federal state if the Irish people approve the treaty on June 12.

Opponents of the Lisbon Treaty say the EU will move closer to a federal state if the Irish people approve the treaty on June 12.

An alliance of left-wing groups joined forces today to outline their arguments for a 'no' vote.

The groups include Sinn Féin, the Socialist Party, the Peace and Neutrality Alliance and the People Before Profit Alliance.

They say workers' rights will be weakened and more public services will be privatised if the treaty is passed.
