Red Cross: 'Treaty on banning of cluster bombs is achievable'
The organisers of a major international conference in Croke Park on the banning of cluster bombs in global conflict believe agreement is possible on a document aimed at forcing governments worldwide to abandon the use of the munitions which can cause horrific injuries.
Delegates from up to 100 countries will be seeking to outlaw the munitions which are blamed for indiscriminately killing or maiming civilians in conflict zones for almost 60 years.
