A brave teenager tonight celebrated the best night of his life by rubbing shoulders with outgoing Taoiseach Bertie Ahern.

Alan Doherty, who suffers from a rare physical disorder, greeted his guest of honour at a charity ball in the young man’s honour in Co Donegal.
