Jury views collection of 'illegal' child porn

The jury in the trial of a Westmeath man charged with possessing child pornography has been viewing the alleged illegal images recovered by gardaí from a Dublin City University office and a house in the city.

Victor Fagg (aged 36) of Cornamagh, Athlone is denying possessing child pornography in Room 117 of DCU's Physics Block and at Crestfield Close, Whitehall on April 19, 2005.

Mr Fagg, who worked in the DCU Physics Department for seven years, told gardaí he used his credit card to purchase adult and teen porn from websites accessed from a homebuilt computer in his former office there.

He revealed he used the DCU local area network (LAN) to access the named sites. When gardaí asked him if he had ever bought child pornography, he replied: "Not to my knowledge."

It is day-three of the trial which continues before Judge Frank O'Donnell and a jury of eight men and four women at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
