Heroin worth around €200,000 was seized today by detectives targeting organised crime.

The drugs were recovered during a search at premises in Hillcrest Business Park, Greenhills Road, Walkinstown, Dublin 12.

Officers from the city’s South Central Crime Task Force and the Garda National Drugs Unit carried out the raid at around 3pm as part of Operation Anvil, focusing on gangland criminality.

A Garda spokesman said: “During the course of the search 1 kg of heroin was seized. This seizure has an estimated street value of €200,000 subject to analysis.”

A number of other items were also recovered in the search including an Ifor Williams trailer which had been stolen in Duleek, Co Meath, two years ago.

No arrests were made at the scene.
