A man has been injured in a drive-by shooting in Limerick.

A man has been injured in a drive-by shooting in Limerick.

The incident happened at around 4pm this afternoon at Hyde Avenue in the Ballinacurra Weston area of the city, when a number of shots were fired at a man.

A green car was used in the attack, but it was unclear if the shots were fired from the car, or if the gunman got out to shoot.

A car, believed to have been used in the incident, was found burnt out in Rhebogue.

Both scenes were sealed off for technical examination.

The victim, believed to be in his early forties, was taken for treatment to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, where his injuries were said to be ‘not life-threatening’.

Gardaí at Roxboro Road have appealed for information.
