Govt to publish proposals for tackling alcohol problem
The Government is due to publish proposals today aimed at tackling the problems associated with rising levels of alcohol consumption.
The proposals will be contained in a report from the Alcohol Advisory Group set up at the start of the year, as well as the heads of a new Intoxicating Liquor Bill.
Reports this morning say the proposed legislation is likely to include restrictions on the availability of alcohol and stricter rules governing alcohol advertising and promotions.
It will also reportedly propose a system to stagger the opening hours of pubs and nightclubs.
