Minister urges rethink on weekly shopping lists
Even vegetable choices people make are impacting on their carbon footprint, consumers were warned today.
Minister of State for Food and Horticulture Trevor Sargent is backing moves to educate students about the impact their choices are having on the environment.
The Green Party minister was on hand to launch Trinity College Dublin's first ever Food Week today aiming to educate the public about how food supply and shopping basket choices are impacting on climate change.
Sargent says food issues are now a major part of a debate about the future for Ireland and the planet as a whole.
