Dublin South East Fianna Fáil TD Chris Andrews has today called on the Olympic Council of Ireland to withdraw from the opening ceremony at this year’s Olympic Games in protest at Chinese policies towards Tibet.

"It is with regret and great reluctance that one contemplates recommending any political action in the sports arena. Ideally sports - all sports - should be apolitical," he said.
