96 jobs to go in Athlone

Athlone-based manufacturing company Nexans Ireland is to close down in mid-summer with the loss of 96 jobs, it was confirmed this afternoon.

Management said the plant – which manufactures electrical cables - had been loss-making for the past ten years.
