Tributes paid to Easter Rising women
Tributes have been paid to the women who fought in the 1916 Easter Rising.
A parade and wreath-laying ceremony has taken place in Dublin today to remember the hundreds of women who fought for Irish Independence.
Organisers say the role played by women at that time is often forgotten.
Spokesperson Cathleen O'Neill said it was important that they were honoured today: "The idea behind it was to repay a debt owed to those women from 92 years ago. They stood for freedom, a freedom that many of us have enjoyed since then."
