Taoiseach to attend Belfast Agreement commemoration

The Taoiseach has accepted an invitation to attend an event in Belfast to mark the 10th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.

Former US president Bill Clinton and former US senator George Mitchell have already agreed to attend the event at Queen's University, which is being organised by the US-Ireland Alliance.

Other confirmed attendees include Gerry Adams, Martin McGuinness, John Hume, SDLP leader Mark Durkan, UUP leader Reg Empey and General John de Chastelain, the head of the decommissioning body.

Former British prime minister Tony Blair has also been invited.

It remains unclear, however, if any members of the DUP will take part in the commemoration.

The party boycotted the talks leading to the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.
