One of Ireland's most renowned former athletes has been named as the Grand Marshal for this year's St Patrick's Day parade in Dublin.

Eamon Coughlan will lead the parade through Dublin on March 17.

He has competed in four Olympic Games and won the 5,000m World Championship title in 1983.

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of his world record for the indoor mile, which stood until 1997.
