The Minister for Agriculture Mary Coughlan has announced a number of new measures to prevent the spread of bluetongue here.

The Minister for Agriculture Mary Coughlan has announced a number of new measures to prevent the spread of bluetongue here.

The disease, which affects cattle and sheep, was recently discovered in a herd in Antrim.

The measures include the re-testing of animals imported here from the UK since November.

Minister Coughlan also announced a new check on imports from the North.
