PDs meet to elect leader
Moves to elect a new leader of the Progressive Democrats are expected to move up a notch today.
The Party's General Council will meet on the outskirts of Dublin where the leadership issue is expected to top the agenda.
The party have been without a leader since last May when Michael McDowell stepped down.
Under the party’s rules only a member of the Oireachtas can lead the party and there are moves to change that particular clause.
Senators Fiona O’Malley and Ciaran Cannon have both expressed an interest in leading the party.
