Underperforming teachers face sack under new proposals

Teachers who underperform in the classroom could reportedly face the sack if they fail to improve within 90 days.

Reports this morning say the move is among confidential proposals drawn up by the Department of Education.

Sacking would be the most extreme form of punishment for teachers who fail to improve their performance.

The proposals would also allow for pay deductions, demotions and suspensions.
