Tributes have been pouring in for the late Dr Brendan O'Regan.

Best known for his work on Shannon airport and the Clare region, he was the man behind the world's first duty-free shop.

President Mary McAleese has described him as "a true visionary".

Born in Sixmilebridge in 1917, he studied in Europe for many years before taking over the management of his father's hotel in Ennistymon.

Dr O'Regan also played a substantial role in the North's peace process as the founder of Co-operation Ireland.

Mayor of Clare, Patricia McCarthy has said he's leaving a huge legacy behind him.
