The Dublin Docklands Development Authority is defending a decision to hold its annual conference on the regeneration of capital's docklands in Co Kerry.

A spokesperson says the authority always holds the conference there as it enables the 200 or so delegates to focus better on the issues involved by being outside of their usual environment.

The two-day meeting, which got underway this morning, is held to update local community groups and organisations from the docklands area on the work of the authority.
