Irish scientists are to take a lead role in a new multi-million euro research project aimed at reducing the worldwide incidence of STDs and hospital superbugs.

The four-year, IDA-backed project will see researchers from NUI Galway team up with an American medical firm to devise a new way to diagnose so-called "silent infections" that can remain in the body for years.
