Priest condemns fundraiser for convicted sex abuser

A Catholic priest has spoken out against a decision by parishioners in Co Donegal to collect money for another priest serving a jail term for sex abuse and rape.

Fr Eugene Greene, who is in his 80s, is due to end five years of a 12-year sentence in Portlaoise jail later this year.

Fr Patrick McCafferty, a Dublin priest who was a victim of child sex abuse himself, says he finds it incomprehensible that people in the Raphoe area of Donegal would raise money for "a man who has caused such devastation to human lives".
