A man has had his hand severed during an incident at a pub in the Finglas area of north Dublin.

A man has had his hand severed during an incident at a pub in the Finglas area of north Dublin.

The incident occurred just before 9pm last night in the Deputy Mayor pub in Meakstown.

Two attackers entered the pub, one of them armed with a sword and the other wielding a hammer.

The victim was taken to the Mater Hospital, where he is expected to undergo surgery to reconnect his hand.

A man has been arrested in connection with the attack and is being questioned at Finglas garda station.
